This week, the word with: Tinie Tempah Bashy

Tinie Tempah speaks to us about tears and sexy beasts….!

So are you really tiny with a huge temper…?
No No, its my stage name, Tinie is the cute side and Tempha is the fire that comes out when I get into the music. I was in year 8 of school when I realised I wanted to take this music thing seriously so I thought it was time to get me a name.

The new single is called ‘Tears’, when was the last time you cried….?
Errrr…..

Tell us about the video
It’s going to blow you away, its out in two weeks on You Tube and all the major music TV channels. I don’t want to give it away, but it’s gripping. Ive definitely gone up a level or two with this single, the first vid I made got quite a lot of heat even though I made it myself for £800 when I was 17, it just shows you got to put yourself out there and make it happen for yourself.

What are you doing right now?
I’ve just finished an interview with the South London Press and I’m buzzin

Major label vs Independent
I’m hoping to prove a point to the major labels with this track, I wanna prove that UK urban music is stronger than ever. I’m currently on an independent label and I’m just doing every thing I can to make it work. So get in and support.

What’s next…?
I’m concentrating on the single tears right now but after that there’s gonna be three mix tapes, the sexy beast series! At the end of September I’ll release Sexy Beats 1 and then 2 and 3 after that. In the big picture Id like to get an album out there, I’m looking at summer 09 for that.

What’s your advise to any one trying to get into music
You’ve got to do everything you can to make it happen do not sit there and wait for that million pound contract it just aint gonna happen unless you make it happen.

Who would you love to work with?
In the UK I’d love to work with Adele, she’s got a great voice. In the US I think it’s got to be Little Wayne.

How did you get involved with Reprezent 87.7FM?
I met up with a guy at UK unsigned 2008, his name was La La Kid and he was really involved with the broadcast. Afterwards he contacted me via my space and its rolled from there. It’s a great project and I cant wait to come down to the station.

Thanks Tinie!
